The murderous terrorist attack of October 7, during which many houses were destroyed in the settlements surrounding Gaza

The surprise attack on Israel was an extensive Palestinian terrorist attack by Hamas and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad from the Gaza Strip on Israel, especially in the Gaza Envelope, which began on the morning of Saturday, the eighth of the Tashfad assembly, October 7, 2023. The attack included ground infiltration (on foot, motorcycles and pickup trucks manufactured by the Japanese Toyota with a machine gun attached to them), air and sea into Israeli territory, attacks on IDF bases and outposts and firefights with the security forces simultaneously with infiltration into settlements.

During it, massacres and murders of Israeli civilians were carried out – which also included torture, abuse and rape – including a massacre at a nature party near Kibbutz Ra'im, which was the largest terrorist attack in the history of the State of Israel, as well as the kidnapping of approximately 240 civilians and soldiers. The attack was constantly accompanied by massive and continuous firing of thousands of rockets on large areas of Israel, especially the south and center.

The houses of the residents in the Gaza Envelope were destroyed and many people in the settlements and kibbutzim were murdered.

The heroic story of Ophir

Ofir Liebstein, Head of the Shaar HaNegev Regional Council,
Killed in an exchange of fire with terrorists during the massacre in Kfar Gaza
In the morning of Simchat Torah, the fifth day of Shabbat, October 7, 2023.

Ofir fought with the standby unit that protected the kibbutz in the surprise attack on Israel.

Ofir was active and a member in many public areas and for the common good.
One of the areas dearest to Ofir's heart was the spread of Jewish identity throughout the world.
As the founder of "Letters of Love" and chairman of the "Habonim Dror" association, Ofir connected thousands of Jews around the world to the mezuzah and the Torah book.

We worked together a lot to strengthen the heritage and tradition of the Jewish people.

letters of love

We at 'Letters of Love' have set ourselves the goal of connecting the various communities in the Jewish people and gathering under one common theme that connects them all

The Jewish Torah,

History is built from the story of our ancestors, the story of all of us. Each letter is a link in the Jewish chain. By writing the Torah book – we reconnect to the Jewish story and to all the people of Israel. As in the Torah book, if one letter is missing – the entire book is invalid, so also in our story, every letter – is important.

We invite you to take part in writing a letter and to be partners in the Jewish Torah book and in writing the Jewish story – the story of all of us.

I am one letter – we are all one people.
